I think the majority of my soundtrack would consist of tracks by The Gathering (especially the song "El?anor"), and maybe some Billy Joel (you'd be surprised how many of his songs have lyrics that match the tone and plot of SiP).

When I started this thread I forgot to add my list. Because SIP is a female based story, I thought a female based soundtrack would be best. Here are my choices -
1. Uninvited - Alanis Morissette
2. Hyper Ballad - Bjork
3. Celebrity Skin - Hole
4. Strong Enough - Sheryl Crow
5. Because The Night - Patti Smith
6. My Skin - Natalie Merchant
7. Will Never Be The Same - Melissa Etheridge
8. Walk This World - Heather Nova
9. Never Is A Promise - Fiona Apple
10. Sara - Fleetwood Mac
11. Cooling - Tori Amos
12. I Will Remember You - Sarah Mclachlan
and now for something completely different...
mmm. perhaps just a little different.
wes montgomery - "death march {13}"
jeff buckley - "last goodbye"
sade - "pearls"
poe - "trigger happy jack (drive by a go-go)"
stevie wonder - "livin' just enough for the city"
autechre - anything these guys put out...very industrial.
otis redding - "try a little tenderness"
pat metheny - "are you going with me?"
frank sinatra - "my way" (or if you're feeling particularly kitchy, try the cover of the same song by the gypsy kings)
modern jazz quartet - "blues in a minor"
jimi hendrix - "little wing"
jamiroquai - "spend a lifetime"
i've tried very hard to not repeat artists on this list, which was harder than i thought! close runners up: poe - "i'm not a virgin anymore", jeff buckley - "eternal life" and "lover, you should have come over", bjork - "new world", sade - "by your side"... there's just a whole lot of music that would go quite well with the story, either in the background, or as something the characters listen to. probably because there's simply a whole lot of music out there. i get the feeling that my musical tastes don't quite run parallel to the average sip reader...don't feel bad darth. although, i think i'm more of a jazz/funk/techno freak than metal.

the almighty can shove his scripture up his ass if just one word of it says i can't stand by my friends.
-jessie custer "preacher"
"Not an Addict" by K's Choice (from their first album, whose name eludes me). It's Katchoo during her early years and lapses.
How about K's Choice- "Somewhere"? The search for happiness never ends.... for SIP or its readers. It on the "Almost Happy" album- I got it bootleg from a friend. I don't know if it's been released in the US or not. They're from Belgium, I think- but they're an excellent band! Everyone should give them a listen!
